Tuesday of the Second Week of Lent
Saint Katharine Drexel, Virgin optional memorial
Selected Mass Reading
Responsorial Psalm — Psalm 50:8-9, 16bc-17, 21 and 23
I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices: and thy burnt offerings are always in my sight. I will not take calves out of thy house: nor he-goats out of thy flocks. These things hast thou done, and I was silent. Thou thoughtest unjustly that I should be like to thee: but I will reprove thee, and set before thy face. The sacrifice of praise shall glorify me: and there is the way by which I will shew him the salvation of God.
Feast Days
Emetherius of Calahorra Soldier, Martyr
Saint Emetherius of Calahorra was born around the year 270 in Calahorra and is remembered as a faithful Christian whose life was shaped by military service. Though few details of his story have come down to us, his enduring place in the Church’s memory speaks to a witness that strengthened the faith of those who followed. Honored especially in places that look to his intercession—among them Emeteria and Roquetas de Mar—Emetherius remains a quiet but steadfast figure of devotion, inviting believers to serve God with courage and integrity in whatever duties they carry. His feast is kept on March 3, a day to ask for the grace to persevere in faith amid the demands of daily life.
