Biography

Saint Restituta of Sora is honored as a Roman saint and martyr, remembered for her faithful witness to Christ in the early Church. Born in Rome, she is associated in a special way with the town of Sora, where her name has been cherished through the centuries. Though few details of her earthly life have come down to us, the Church’s veneration of Restituta speaks clearly: she belonged to that courageous company of believers who held fast to the Gospel even at the cost of their lives. Tradition records her martyrdom in the year 275, a testimony of steadfast love in a time of trial. Saint Restituta is invoked as patroness of Borbona, Santa Restituta, and Sora. Her feast is celebrated on May 27.
